All agencies who purchase vehicles with state and/or federal funds must follow certain guidelines to maintain these vehicles. Florida Statute, Chapter 14-90, outlines all of the operational and maintenance guidelines for agencies, drivers and vehicles. This statute is currently being amended, but it is included on this site as it currently stands.
The Florida Department of Transportation has also developed minimum maintenance requirements for performing various inspections at appropriate mileage intervals. For more details on how these inspections should be carried out, please see the Preventative Maintenance Standards Manual that was published by FDOT and the PrMPT program.
